THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING

Positive thinking is a mental and emotional attitude that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results. You are what you think, you become what you think, and thoughts influence your life. Positive thinking casts a magical influence on everyone. Positive thinking has immeasurable potential; it has such enormous power that you might have not even imagined. It has the power to shake the mountains, break the glass ceilings and reach greater heights.

Since ages, History has shown the actual proof of positive thinking. Our leaders and freedom fighters viz., Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Rani Lakshmibai, etc. made the dream of Independence a reality, through their leadership, positive attitude, struggle, unity, courage and perseverance. Great personalities like Abdul Kalam, Nelson Mandela, Narendra Modi, Dhirubhai Ambani and Amitabh Bachchan have transformed their vision into mission merely by their power of positive thinking and did not give up in spite of their failures.

Faith has the power to transform everything. One needs to unlock one’s greater self. Tough times, challenges, failures rather help you to grow, change, become a better person and achieve remarkable victory. Swami Vivekananda has rightly said, “All power is within you. You can do anything and everything!”

No matter what the circumstances are, everything is possible, if you have the courage, optimism, commitment, and willingness to work hard consistently. You need to come out of the comfort zone. If you are happy and positive from within, you can spread it in the outer world. Your perception and way of looking at things matter and change everything. “None can destroy iron, but its own rust can! Likewise, none can destroy a person, but his own mindset can”, says Ratan Tata.

Natural and man-made calamities have devastating effects. Earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, landslides, wars, collapse of buildings, accidents wipe off everything. It results in huge loss of lives and properties. Yet the people who are alive, they get up with a renewed vigour and hope. They have transformed and recreated everything.

According to Daisaku Ikeda, “When your determination changes, everything else will begin to move in the direction you desire. The moment you resolve to be victorious, every nerve and fibre in your being will immediately orient itself towards your success. On the other hand, if you think this is never going to work out, then, at that instant every cell in your being will be deflated and give up the fight, and everything then will really move in the direction of failure”.

Suresh Lalan of Surat who was afflicted by polio is now the CEO of Sparkle Diamond with 600 artisans working under him. Ira Singhal became the first physically challenged woman to top the UPSC Civil Services Exam. Beno Zephine is the 1st blind IFS officer. These examples testify that they have overcome all obstacles through their positive attitude, courage and conviction.

We often hear that broken relationships, sad incidents, poverty, work pressures, failures, responsibilities, pain and agony completely shatter  people. They get up by picking each broken piece. In spite of all the hardships, they have an optimistic attitude during every struggle to reach their goals. Have the courage to stand up even if it means standing alone and take up the whole responsibility on their shoulders. Keep marching ahead valiantly. God helps those who help themselves. A coward, a pessimist dare not even fight the race; it is the optimist and determined soul, who dares to fight, has the chances of success.

Negative thinking leads to stress, fatigue, frustration, failure, disappointment and sadness. In the race of life, people are bogged by workload and pressure. Thus it leads to mental and physical illness. A proper life style and schedule of activities must be followed, rather than having backlog of work and being a victim of illness.

Yoga, meditation, happiness and wellness programmes are now being inculcated as a part of daily routine to lead a happy life. Self-help books and workshops of Norman Vincent Peale, Dale Carnegie, etc. have helped people to lead happy, positive and richer lives. Failure is neither the end of your world nor it is final. One surely has the power to turn failure into success. The Universe falls in love with stubborn people. Magic happens when you don’t give up. Nothing is impossible.
