“We make our own fortunes and call them fate”—are the famous words of the great English writer, Benjamin Disraeli. He wants to say that it is we who are creators of our fate. Our fate is, in fact, the fruit of our action, not a fluke. But we can only be successful in our attempt if we stay focussed on whatever we want to do and do not worry about ourselves. In other words, mere thinking about achieving a goal does not suffice. You have to lay out a proper plan of action and march towards your goal step by step. Sometimes, achieving your goal will appear an uphill task and in all likelihood, you will feel like giving up your efforts, but this is a negative feeling which should not be allowed to get the better of you. You should never focus on results of your action, because it will not let you change your approach. Instead, you should focus on changing your negative approach and developing a matter-of-fact positive approach. A positive approach will always yield positive results.
Always bear in mind that you can maintain positivity only by making sincere efforts towards achieving your goal. For instance, if you are preparing for a competitive exam, you should find out the best way of collecting materials, reading them from the examination point of view with proper time management. If you have problem in understanding some topics, you should look for extra materials in order to have a clear understanding. If you succeed in understanding every topic to the extent it is required, then you will start feeling confident of yourself. You will be able to imagine the end result that will bring you satisfaction. Make full use of your mental faculties to remain aware of the world on the move. The more you make use of your intellectual ability, the more clear your understanding will be. Somebody has rightly said, “Few minds wear out; more rust out!”. It means that an alert mind has the capacity to understand a problem fast and look for the ways to solve it. If you are not in the habit of exercising your mind on a regular basis, you will feel at sea when a difficulty crops up all of a sudden. In this age of cut-throat competition, only a fast and clear solution to a problem matters most. Those who answer fast and correctly are supposed to excel in an examination.
In order to achieve your goal, i.e. succeed in a competitive examination, you need a clear perception which only your imagination can give you. What you see with your eyes proves of no help if you lack the power of analysing it. For a proper analysis of anything, you should make use of your imagination. You cannot have a strong imagination, if you do not have full faith in your own capability. It is your faith in your own ability that makes you aspire for something and make efforts to fulfil it. No task is impossible for man. You can do everything—big and small. Have confidence that if you have done a little thing well, you can do a bigger thing well too. Never forget that life is very bright when you focus on what truly matters to you. You should focus on your goal, believe in your own ability and achieve whatever you want.
