Grab Every Opportunity; Hold It Tight

Dear Friend,

Everybody in this world tries to lead a life full of comforts and directs all his energy towards the attainment of his goal which can ensure what he wants from life. But this does not come to a man who sits idle and whiles his time away. Without looking for the things that call for your active participation and dedication to the required action, it is almost impossible to make any considerable progress in life. You have to channel all your physical and intellectual resources in order to add meaning to your life by accomplishing a task which may be called an opportunity. In fact, life opens up opportunities to you and it is up to you whether you find them worth grabbing or shy away from them, underestimating your own strength. The great English writer Francis Bacon has written—“A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.” Actually, one opportunity if used prudently leads to many other opportunities.

Never forget that everybody is at first apprehensive about the success of a task and hesitates to take it up confidently. When you make up your mind to accomplish a task, your hesitation is replaced by a positive thought which supplies you with the idea about the direction of your movement. Every step that you take towards the accomplishment of your self-assigned task fills you with immense hope—the hope that you have already started moving towards the goal. Your self-confidence wards off all doubts from your mind and enhances your capability as if magically. You are never afraid of the obstacles that crop up on the way. You should always bear in mind the words of the great scientist, Marie Curie—“Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.” You cannot know the complexities that an action involves, if you do not acquaint yourself with it. It has been said that wise people do not wait for opportune moments. They only start doing what they want and all the circumstances start appearing conducive to their action. In other words, if opportunities come when life seems most challenging, we are filled with even more enthusiasm and try to avail ourselves of them. Therefore, do not wait for extraordinary circumstances to do good; try to use ordinary situations. It is your action and performance which make every ordinary situation look extraordinary; circumstances are never ordinary or extraordinary in themselves.

If you undertake a task and think of availing yourself of an opportunity, courage is necessary. Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear—not absence of fear. The thought of failure creeps in the minds of the mighty and resourceful people too. But they do not allow it to affect their plans and continue their efforts. This approach leads to their success. True courage is like a kite. A contrary wind raises it higher. Treat every moment of your life as an opportunity. Grab every opportunity and hold it tight.

Always standing by you and working for your success,
Yours sincerely,
Surendra Kumar Sachdeva
